About our candles
Our candles are poured in small batches with soy wax and cotton wicks, using phthalate-free fragrance, in scents built for a home rather than a showroom: fig, amber, cedar, sage, clove, clean linen. Jar candles are the everyday size, travel tins are the way to try a scent before committing, and unscented pillars and tapers are for a table where food is the point. Each product page lists the size and the approximate burn time so you know what you are getting.

How long does a hand-poured soy candle burn?
Roughly 5 to 7 hours per ounce of wax. An 8 oz jar gives about 50 hours, a 4 oz travel tin about 25, and a 10 oz jar about 60. Trimming the wick to 5 mm before each burn and burning for 2 to 4 hours at a time gets you to the top of that range.
Which candle scent suits a housewarming gift?
Something clean and woody rather than sweet or floral: cedar, sage, fig or amber. They suit most homes and do not compete with cooking. Avoid strong food scents for someone who entertains, and avoid anything heavily perfumed if you do not know their taste.
Why does my candle tunnel down the middle?
Because the first burn was cut short. Wax has a memory: let the melted pool spread all the way to the edge of the jar on the first burn, which takes 2 to 3 hours in an 8 oz jar, and it will burn evenly for the rest of its life.
